Introduction

School Archive is the leading information system for music schools in Iceland. The system is web based and works both for PC and Macintosh in common web browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. School Archive is suitable for all art schools whether small or large.

Manuals

Manuals are included with the system explaining the main operations step by step. A separate manual is available for teachers. The manuals can be opened from the system.

Security

The web site is secured SSL merki with SSL, the url is with https instead of normal http.

The database is backed up daily. Data can be restored by request if it is accidentally deleted.

Database is also backed up and restored on a server in a separate location. Users can have access to the daily restore where all operations can be performed including printing of reports. The daily restore can be used for the training of new users.

User passwords are protected with a one way cryptographic hash function.

Microsoft technology

The system is developed with technology from Microsoft. The web module is written in ASP.NET from Microsoft with Visual Studio 2008. The database is Microsoft SQL Server 2008. Reports are written in Reporting Services for Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
